常年期(Ordinary Season)

Ordinary time begins the Monday after Pentecost and stretches until Advent. It is the longest season of the church year. Ordinary Time is a time for growth and maturation, a time in which the mystery of Christ is called to penetrate ever more deeply into history until all things are finally caught up in Christ. Let’s walk the faithful and steady path of discipleship.

Trinity Sunday is the first Sunday after Pentecost, which celebrates the Christian doctrine of the Trinity, the three Persons of God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

The feast of Corpus Christi was proposed by Thomas Aquinas, and being recognized in 1264, in order to create a feast focused solely on the Holy Eucharist. Corpus Christi is celebrated on the Thursday after Trinity Sunday. Thursday was chosen because it was the day on which the Last Supper was celebrated.

The birth of John the Baptist on June 24 comes three months after the celebration on March 25 of the Annunciation, and six months before the Christmas celebration of the birth of Jesus. The birth of John the Baptist anticipates the feast of Christmas. The sole biblical account of the birth of John the Baptist comes from the Gospel of Luke.

June 29 celebrates the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul, which is grounded in the martyrdom suffered by the two important apostles of the church. Christian tradition suggests that both Peter and Paul were martyred in Rome around AD 65 under the orders of Emperor Nero. Without both of them, it is difficult to imagine the subsequent spread of Christianity that took place after their death. Peter’s witness was particularly important to the Christian movement within the Jews, while Paul was instrumental in spreading the Gospel to the Gentiles. They devoted their very lives to their calling, their sacrifice should be examples for all Christians to follow.

The month of July is dedicated to the Most Precious Blood of the Redeemer.
The feast was instituted in 1849, but the devotion is as old as Christianity.

The season of Pentecost recalls the gift of the Holy Spirit and the evangelistic growth of the church. The Season of Kingdomtide constitutes the 13 or 14 Sundays beginning the last Sunday in August and continuing until the beginning of Advent at the end of November.

All Saints’ Day is a day commemorating all the saints of the church who have attained heaven. It is celebrated on November 1, it is part of the three-day triduum dedicated to remembering the dead, beginning with All Hallows' Eve (October 31) and followed by All Saints’ Day (November 1) and All Souls’ Day (November 2).

All Souls’ Day is a day for commemoration of all the faithful departed, it is observed on November 2, the day is dedicated to prayer and remembrance. It is part of the three-day triduum dedicated to remembering the dead, beginning with All Hallows' Eve (October 31) and followed by All Saints’ Day (November 1) and All Souls’ Day (November 2).

Christ the King Sunday emphasises the true kingship of Christ. The observance is on the last Sunday ofOrdinary Time and thus to the end of the liturgical year. The earliest date on which the Feast of Christ the King can occur is 20 November and the latest is 26 November. When we celebrate the feast, we declare to the world and remind ourselves that Jesus is the Lord of the Church and of the entire universe.
